11 years of GPeC

We started in 2006, when in Romania e-commerce was almost insignificant. We supported the industry and its growth right from the start and, according to your feedback, we became the most important e-commerce event in Romania. Check out how the last 9 editions of GPeC brought to the Romanian e-commerce industry.

About GPeC 2008

Just like every year, GPeC Awards were structured in 3 main categories:

  • awards granted based on RomCard figures;
  • Link 2 eCommerce (GPeC E-Commerce Awards Gala organizer) proprietary awards;
  • jury ranking awards.

As far as the awards granted based on RomCard statistics are concerned, the rewards went to banks who achieved the best performance during the last 12 months of e-commerce activity:

  • Raiffeisen Bank (highest number of enrolled merchants – 50 merchants)
  • BRD-GSG (highest number of 3D Secure enrolled cards – 2.020.000 cards)
  • BRD-GSG (highest number of cards active in 3D Secure – 4.220 cards)
  • Alpha Bank (highest number of cards enrolled within the 3D Secure system; Issuing – 132.958 cards)
  • CEC Bank (best cards enrolled/cards activated rapport – 2.304/1.172)
  • BRD-GSG (highest online card transactions average value – 97,07 EUR)
  • Unicredit Tiriac Bank (least chargebacks)
  • Banca Transilvania (best evolution of a bank within the last 12 months)
  • BRD-GSG (Bank of the Year in E-Commerce; highest processed volume – 35.500.004 EUR)

Also, based on RomCard figure, we’ve grated an award for the merchant with the highest number of card transactions – Orange Romania – an average of 598 transactions per day.

For the first time in the event’s history, GPeC 2008 has granted awards for adjacent services, which are indispensable for e-commerce. Therefore in the Link 2 eCommerce proprietary awards category we have rewarded merchants who contribute to creating a performant e-commerce industry and to this market’s promotion:

  • Candoo Software (best e-commerce software solution)
  • Price.ro (best price comparison engine as far as conversion rate is concerned)
  • Fan Courier (best fast delivery service – award granted by online shops registered with GpeC)
  • Romtelecom (best promotion campaign to increase the number of internet connections)
  • eMAG (best online campaign – “Birocrazilla”)
  • Alina Branescu (Journalist of the Year in E-Commerce)

19 jury members assessed over 80 jury ranking criteria, meant to emphasize almost all aspects important for an online business. The jury members were:
