\"Uniunea<\/a>New rules allowing Europeans to travel and enjoy online content services across borders<\/h3>\n

Europeans will soon be able to fully use their online subscriptions to films, sports events, e-books, video games or music services when traveling within the EU, according to the agreement reached this evening by negotiators of the European Parliament, the Member States, and the European Commission. This is the first agreement related to the modernisation of EU copyright rules as proposed by the Commission in the Digital Single Market strategy.\u00a0The agreed text must now be formally confirmed<\/strong> by the Council of the EU and the European Parliament. Once adopted, the rules will become applicable in all EU Member States by the\u00a0beginning of 2018 as the Regulation grants providers and right holders a 9 month period to prepare for the application of the new rules.<\/p>\n

Agility Robotics unveiled a bipedal robot called Cassie this week. The company, which spun out of the ATRIAS project at Oregon State University, is focused on „legged locomotion” and hopes to someday engineer robots that can walk just like people.\u00a0The bots could someday be used to assist soldiers in the field, for emergency services like search and rescue missions, or even for tasks like grocery deliveries<\/strong> \u2014 just like the Vespa cargo bot<\/a> that also debuted this week and looks a bit less creepy.\u00a0With better user control systems and AI, Cassie can move closer to its full potential \u2014 but that’s still a way\u00a0down the road. For now, we’ll call it a win when the bot can master stairs on its own.<\/p>\n
