Top 500 European online shops (report)
The report “IREU Top 500: A performance ranking of Europe’s Top500 ecommerce and multichannel retailers” is the first Europe-wide retail performance index, ranking the Top 500 most significant multichannel and eCommerce retailers from 31 countries (the members of the European Economic Area – EEA plus Switzerland), based on their performance across seven dimensions. IREU Top500 research shows that, as a group, leading European retailers are often starting to foster cross-border trade, but have by no means completed the task. Read more about the report.
No more boundaries between the online and offline e-commerce
Online sales of the biggest offline retailers don’t reflect in the market total in e-commerce, says Ziarul Financiar. „As an example, altex.ro and flanco.ro record important sales online, but these are not generally considered in the total amount of sales in the IT-electro sector because they are merged with the total turnover of all retailers”, said Marius Ghenea, owner of PC Garage.
Automobile manufacturers choose the online market
Ford Motor Company, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Lamborghini and other auto manufacturers turn down the big automobile fairs and choose to concentrate on the online market. At the Paris Auto Show 2016, the biggest industry’s representatives were not present, according to hotnews.ro.
The “Running Chicken”project in China
JD.com launched the “JD running chicken” pilot project under which JD Finance provides the start-up capital while JD Fresh, the department which sells fresh produce online, oversees the project’s ecommerce operation. The project aims to build a close cycle of chicken reproduction, raising and sale. More details here.
