Google’s Family Link Helps Parents

Google Family LinkGoogle is helping parents provide a protected environment for their children to explore the internet with an app called Family Link. Family Link gives children under 13 a Google account that can be monitored, controlled and managed by their parents. The parent downloads Family Link to their own Android device and sets up an account on the child’s device through the app. The parent must review and consent to Google’s Parental Disclosure and Privacy Policy before they can set up a Family Link account for their child. The consent process includes a $0.30 charge. Family Link is only available in the US.

Google comes back with the “Digital Workshop” for Romania’s young entrepreneurs

Google relaunches the “Digital Workshop” program in Romania. Youngsters aged 15 – 30 years are taught how to start and build their own online business plans. In the end, they can receive a Google/IAB Europe Certificate that most of the European employers recognize.

The course is free and is organized in several universities across the country; the program will be in Bucharest in April.

Last year, 11.000 students from 33 cities in Romania participated in the “Digital Workshop”.

FAN Courier invests EUR 8.5 mln in expanding warehouse

hub central fan courier fotoFAN Courier, the biggest courier firm on the local market, will invest EUR 8.5 million in expanding its current warehouse in Stefanestii de Jos, north of Bucharest. The work will be completed next year. The company acquired a new 60,000 sqm plot in Stefanesti de Jos. Following the expansion, the FAN Courier warehouse will exceed 100,000 sqm. The storage capacity will cover 22,000 sqm. The investments in the new warehouse will be of almost EUR 7 million whereas EUR 1.5 million was the land’s price. The construction will take about a year due to the high number of permits the company needs to get. The shareholders also plan to open a new warehouse in the country, but haven’t made any decision yet.

Elefant.ro to open 12 new pick-up points this year

elefant.ro-investii-gpec-stirile-saptamanii-in-ecommerceThe online retailer Elefant.ro announces the opening of 12 pick-up points in 2017, out of which six in Bucharest and six in other cities from Romania, in a bid to accommodate the growing demand. The network of Elefant.ro is set to reach 42 delivery points at the end of 2017, in 23 Romanian cities, out of which 18 in Bucharest. The investment for the expansion in 2017 amounts to over EUR 2 million.

Besides the six pick-up points from Bucharest, Elefant will open this year another delivery space in Iasi, the first one being functional since 2015 and other five points in Piatra Neamt, Suceava, Pitesti, Targu Mures and Hunedoara.
