United Kingdom: 9% Year on Year growth in online shopping

An annual United Kingdom report published by Royal Mail states that online shopping in the UK has risen by 9% year on year. The research states that online shoppers in the United Kingdom make 87% of their retail purchases online, up from 80% in 2017. The proportion of money spent online has increased, mainly as shoppers look for good value for money.

Main reasons for shoppers to buy products online remain the ability to compare prices and have a wider range of choice in products as opposed to shopping in-store. On average, shoppers spend £34 on each online transaction.

3.3% of Romanians buy office supplies online

School supplies online shopping report

This week, students go back to school, but parents didn’t rely on the Internet to buy office supplies. According to a study cited by Profit.ro, only 3.3% of  Romanians bought office supplies online.

More than 57% of the interviewees said that they put aside a budget of 100 – 300 lei for the beginning of school shopping.

50% of the participants in a study produced by Ipsos & Medallia said that they choose a certain brand based on their personal experience.

20% of them said that their decision is influenced by the opinions of close friends.

Online reviews of other customers are another decision factor and they count as 9% in the decision making process.

Argos enables click and collect via voice commerce

Argos lansează comerțul vocal

Argos has combined click and collect with voice commerce, launching a service that shoppers can use to reserve from a range of 20,000 products for same-day pick-up from a store. Customers use the Voice Shop service via Google Assistant on their iOS or Android smartphone, or on a smart speaker to speak their order, from a range that includes toys, technology and home essentials. After confirming their order via their phone, they can pick it up from one of 850 Argos stores as early as the same day.

Shoppers can also use the assistant to search for a product and check availability, or to find their nearest store.
