Zalando to expand to Ireland, Czech Republic and comes closer to Romania

Europe’s biggest online fashion retailer Zalando plans to expand to Ireland and the Czech Republic and could add other markets later, but does not expect profitability to increase for years as it invests heavily in logistics and technology. Zalando had no plans for major investments in Britain, where it has a relatively small presence, due to concerns about possible import tariffs and the fluctuation of the pound after the country leaves the European Union.

Launched in Berlin in 2008, Zalando has grown fast to sell almost 2,000 brands in 15 countries, mostly in western Europe, but has not added a new market since Luxembourg in 2013.

Romanian friending app very popular in Spain soon after launch

Floca, a friending and chat app developed by Romanian tech company Inovatie Alia, was launched this month in Madrid and has gathered more than 50,000 users in just one week. Floca will also be launched in Romania in June, where the developers expect to register more than 10,000 active users in the first month.

The developers say the app is addressed to those who want to meet new people, as well as those who want to stay in touch with their friends. The app can be downloaded from Google Play and AppStore.
