“The Enhanced Ecommerce plugin for Google (Universal) Analytics was introduced in mid-2014. The aim of the plugin is to give more meaning to the typically tracked eCommerce KPIs, by visualizing all product – and sales – data as funnels. In this talk, I will introduce the new reports, but first I will rant about how web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics impose a schema on the raw data collected by the platform. This schema makes generic KPIs such as “Sessions” and “Conversion Rate” meaningless, unless you understand the complex mechanism of how the schema stitches hits together. Using funnels lets you see how an impression of a product becomes a purchase conversion. This lets you understand the schema, your visitors, and your product efficiency on a more granular level.”
